Her educational journey began at Rajah Muthaiah Medical College, Annamalai University, where she earned her MBBS degree in 1995. Her commitment to continuous learning and excellence in the field is evident in her subsequent qualifications, including MNAMS (Member of National Academy of Medical Sciences, 2002) and FMRF (General Ophthalmology Fellowship, Sankara Nethralaya, 1999-2000). Dr. Anita Chopra’s dedication to international standards is underscored by her recognition as a Fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology (FICO). Dr. Chopra’s professional journey includes a significant tenure as a Consultant at Sankara Nethralaya from July 2000 to January 2004. Following this, she assumed the role of Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at Jain Charitable Hospital, Dana Mandi, Ludhiana, from April 2004 to May 2008.

During her leadership at Jain Charitable Hospital, Dr. Anita Chopra made substantial contributions. She initiated the eye department at the hospital and played a pivotal role in building the outpatient department from fewer than 10 patients to an average of 100 per day. Her surgical expertise shines through, with a notable accomplishment of routinely performing Phacoemulsification for various types of cataracts, averaging 80-100 surgeries per month. Additionally, she conducted glaucoma surgeries and utilized YAG lasers for after-cataract and glaucoma cases.

Noteworthy presentations include those at the North Zone Ophthalmological Society Conferences in 2005, 2006, and 2007, covering topics such as topical anesthesia in small incision cataract surgery and Phacotrabeculectomy with releasable sutures.
